Registered Pharmacist & Founded the second largest vitamin retail chain in America

Bernie Bubman, RPh was inducted into the California Pharmacy Hall of Fame in 2007.

He began his illustrious career in pharmacy after graduating from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy and moving to California in 1968.

While working as a Pharmacist, Bernard ventured into the wholesale of vitamin supplements.  In 1972, he started a health food store with an in-house prescription department called Great Earth.  Great Earth grew to 12 stores and Bernard and his partner, Earl Mindell, sold the rights to the Great Earth concept to a Fortune 500 company which went on to add 175 more new stores. Bernard continued to own and operate 40 stores.  Great Earth became America’s second-largest retail health-food vitamin chain with over 200 locations in 18 states, as well as, in Japan, Spain and Italy.

Ever the entrepreneur, Bernard together with David Hakimian, founded Earthbar.  Earthbar was an organic beverage, smoothie and juice concept, offering products sans dairy, soy, added sugar and yogurt.  As of 2016, there are 25 Earthbars in Los Angeles, including 20 within Equinox health clubs in California.

With his wealth of experience in pharmacy and nutrition, Bernard has served as consultants for Oxis Int. – the largest manufacturer and distributor of oxidative stress kits, East West Medical Research Institute – engaged in research of botanicals and other nutraceuticals in Asia for distribution in America and the world, Bentley-Myers – a direct marketing company with $60 million in retail sales, ICN – one of the largest pharmaceutical company in Eastern Europe.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Bernard continues to add to his vast knowledge in his field by attending courses in related and diverse disciplines.
